I am a board-certified licensed Naturopathic Physician in full-time practice at Tahoma Clinic. I received my doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington, and my undergraduate degree in the Biological Sciences from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. After years as a writer and editor for a major scientific journal, I became a physician to serve others and improve the health and quality of life for all. This desire to serve has been expressed in many ways, from opening a community clinic in Kenya, Africa, to writing extensively in the field of natural medicine, and now as a physician at Tahoma Clinic.

I have always found that life is one of the best teachers and it’s this philosophy that plays a big part of every patient visit. The healthcare challenges that many of my patients are experiencing are some of the same healthcare challenges I’ve faced myself in the past. During each patient visit, my patients and I work as a team to identify the health issues most important to them and then establish an effective treatment plan for healing to occur.

It’s my goal as a physician to empower every patient with the knowledge they need to make their own best healthcare choices. Too often, through conventional healthcare, people have become separated from both understanding and awareness of the health concerns affecting them. Using the considerable resources and knowledge available through Tahoma Clinic, my staff and I serve as a support team for people who are seeking answers to their health concerns.

While my practice focuses on general medicine, we emphasize bio-identical hormone therapy for women and men, adrenal fatigue and stress management, weight loss (particularly the HCG program), thyroid imbalances, gastrointestinal and digestive health, allergies, sleep issues, and optimizing nutrition.

When not at Tahoma Clinic, I enjoy sea kayaking in many parts of the world, exploring ancient civilizations and natural history, and volunteering at a cancer retreat center in Western Washington. I’m also an adjunct instructor at Bastyr University, working with the naturopathic medicine department on campus and at the teaching clinic to organize and run programs for medical students. It’s my privilege to also be a research associate on a study being conducted by Dr. Jonathan Wright through Meridian Valley Laboratory on the benefits of aldosterone for hearing loss.

Having been a medical writer and editor for many years, I’ve most recently been a contributing author to NDNR, Naturopathic Doctor News and Review, and have been published in the Townsend Review for Doctors and Patients. There is a more extensive list of my publications available on request.
